Camp Focus:

  • Academic and Pre-College Camps: Marine Science
  • Adventure Camps: Environmental
  • Adventure Camps: SCUBA
  • Special Programs: Community Service
  • Description:

Whether you already love the ocean or have been dreaming of becoming a marine biologist, this adventure is for you. Not only will you learn about the sea turtle “patients” being cared for at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital, but you will work alongside their staff to care for these endangered animals. Coastal conservation is a compelling mission of this camp, so we’ll spend up to 20 community service hours working on eco-service projects that will directly improve the health of our coast. Come make a difference and have an experience you will never forget!

Sea Turtle Camp is located in the coastal community of Topsail Island, North Carolina. During camp, we'll be closely involved with the rehabilitation work performed at the hospital as well as joining the Topsail Island Beach Patrol to look for new nests. Some campers may even get to see some of the newly released turtles in their natural habitat during ocean dives in the Open Water and Advanced SCUBA progams.

In addition to working with sea turtles, we’ll explore several fields of marine biology, giving you the opportunity to learn more about all the different aspects of being a marine biologist. It’s about respecting the ocean and all that it holds and doing your part to conserve its delicate ecosystems. If you are looking for the marine biology adventure of a lifetime, then Sea Turtle Camp is for you!
