Now embarking on our eighth year, Camp Culinary Creations offers three amazing culinary programs…all to be held in our brand new indoor facility, fully-equipped to provide an amazing week of desserts, cultural exploration, and creative cake creations. This award-winning program involves our budding chefs in a unique combination of the culinary arts and your choice of an additional camp elective, including arts & crafts such as canvas sewing, weaving projects, woodworking and paint projects, stained glass, jewelry design, soap making and more! For those campers not interested in the crafty side of things, we also offer an alternative elective that involves engineering and invention projects…our famous “KNEX Club” building project time…all providing a truly customized summer day camp experience for each child. Also new this summer is our "Candy Making Hour"...offered during the morning activity time regardless of which camp your signed up for! Taught under the supervision and guidance of talented chefs and assistants, each camp will involve both whole-group morning lessons and demonstrations, as well as afternoon individual cooking/design sessions with an impressive 1:6 instructor to student ratio…providing several hours daily devoted to the culinary arts and ensuring a one-of-a-kind camp experience! Our summer 2011 curriculum includes the following:
Delectable Desserts (Ages 7-13): A showcase for your sweet tooth abounds in this fun, yet challenging, camp as our junior chefs master the art of dessert making techniques, plating, serving etiquette, and more! Daily culinary lessons involve home-made cinnamon rolls with a delectable icing, fresh strawberry and hot fudge tarts with flaky hand-made pastry shells, chocolate mousse cake topped with strawberries, our legendary snickerdoodles, decadent cookie bars, and an entire day devoted to the art of candy making…an incredible week of sweets and treats!
Tastes Of The World (Ages 8-13): Here’s an amazing opportunity to feast on the flavors of many different cultures, as our junior chefs prepare an entrée each day to celebrate food from around the globe. Our diverse menu includes a hearty triple-layer lasagna, avocado-topped gourmet California burgers with baked red potato home fries and home-made ketchup, Thai spring rolls with dipping sauce, a Spanish-inspired chicken tortilla casserole, and a variety of grilled Italian-style paninis loaded with oven roasted turkey, fresh basil, roma tomatoes, and hand-sliced mozzarella cheese….a fun (and tasty) week of culinary exploration! Note: vegetarian versions available for each.
Creations In Cake (Ages 8-13): Become your own “cake boss” with an entire week of camp devoted to the art of cake design. Though campers will bake several cakes, our focus will be on more advanced concepts such as designing sugar flowers, using fondant for both coverage and decorative elements, creative design concepts, air brushing, designing/sculpting with chocolate, cereal treats, and more! Friday finds our junior pastry chefs involved in a “Creative Cakes” challenge, where they showcase their own cake designs incorporating all the concepts covered throughout the week. This award-winning camp inspires all budding pastry chefs to rise to the challenge!
